What will it cost to back up your ArcGIS Online?
Backup Manager is priced on storage alone. There are no per-user fees, no per-item fees and no charge for the number of layers you protect. That makes the cost straightforward to work out in advance, because only two things move it: how much content you back up, and how many copies of it you keep.

The estimator below can be used to convert your backup needs into an annual cost estimate. It takes about a minute to populate.
To get started you will need an approximate idea of:
- how many hosted feature layers you want protected
- how many records a typical feature service holds
- whether those layers carry photos or documents as attachments
- how often you want them backed up and how many copies to keep
If you need to identify different backup routine sets you can add multiple backup sets. A common split is operational data backed up daily, with reference data backed up weekly or monthly.

How the estimate is calculated
The estimator sizes your content from the number of layers, the records in each and the kind of geometry they hold, then adds attachments at their full size. It multiplies that total by the number of copies you keep. Web maps and applications are backed up too. At roughly 100 KB each they make no practical difference to the total, so the estimator excludes them.
Attachments are usually the whole story
A single site photo is thousands of times larger than the record it is attached to. Ten thousand photos at 3 MB each is 30 GB before a single copy is kept, while the geometry and attributes underneath them might come to less than a gigabyte.
If your figure looks higher than expected, attachments are almost always the reason. It is worth checking how many your layers actually carry before you size a subscription around them.
Copies kept rather than backup frequency typically drives the cost
Seven daily copies and seven weekly copies take up the same storage. What differs is how far back you can reach: one week in the first case, seven in the second.
So choose the frequency that matches how quickly your data changes, then set retention by how far back you would realistically need to restore. Increasing frequency alone will not increase your bill.
What is covered
Feature services are backed up as a complete unit, including all layers, related tables and attachments, so they can be restored intact. Web maps and applications are covered as well. ArcGIS Hub sites and ArcGIS Notebooks are not currently backed up - the functionality to backup these is coming soon.

- £1,000 per year for the first 500 GB of storage
- £250 per year for each additional 500 GB block
